A fantastic post. There should be an exam before one can use email, and this should be the syllabus.

Another point I would make is to provide as much information as possible, with precise descriptions, direct
web links, attachments, screenshots, etc.

So instead of, what do you think about that think I sent you last week: I sent you the attached draft article last week (reattached for convience), do you think the length was appropriate or does it drag on?

Or instead of, the links aren't working: at this page (link) the link marked "click here to see more" links to (insert full link) but there is a blank page there.

Nothing is more frustrating than 4 emails being required just to determine the meaning and context of the original email!

I'd say, in addition to this sound advice, to use email only for specific, and lengthier contributions. That way, emails are held to a higher level of priority for the recipient (he only receives the more urgent correspondence, and can delegate, or respond with more expedience)... also, for lesser, more informal, and quick notes/jots or examples, use some form of online media representation. Keeps the work flow, not only more interesting and able, but also more current and responsible. Mark EVERYTHING, by priority, upon sent item descriptive format, so recipient is held culpable, and keep media messages on task, as well.

Thanks for sharing this advice.
