CIMCO is making a significant change to its Edit product lineup beginning September 1, 2026.
CIMCO Edit Standard and Professional are being replaced by two new product options: CIMCO Edit Core and CIMCO Edit Ultra.
If you already use CIMCO Edit, you may be wondering what the new names mean, which product replaces your current version, and whether you need to do anything.
Here is what we know so far.
CIMCO Edit Standard Becomes Core
CIMCO Edit Core replaces CIMCO Edit Standard. Core is designed to provide the essential NC editing and backplotting capabilities CNC programmers need for everyday work. It continues CIMCO Edit’s focus on giving programmers tools built specifically for working with NC code rather than treating G-code like ordinary text.
Existing CIMCO Edit Standard customers will automatically transition to CIMCO Edit Core. The new features become available when the latest version of CIMCO Edit is installed.
CIMCO Edit Professional Becomes Ultra
CIMCO Edit Ultra replaces CIMCO Edit Professional. Ultra is the higher-level Edit offering and adds more advanced simulation and verification capabilities. It is intended for shops that want to do more than edit and backplot their programs, particularly when additional program verification can help identify problems before code reaches the CNC machine.
Existing CIMCO Edit Professional customers will automatically transition to CIMCO Edit Ultra. The new features become available when the latest version of CIMCO Edit is installed.
CIMCO Edit Core vs. Ultra
At a high level, the new lineup looks like this:

What About CIMCO Edit 2026?
The Core and Ultra names do not change what CIMCO Edit is at its foundation. CIMCO Edit 2026 remains an NC program editor built specifically for CNC programmers, with tools for working with G-code, backplotting, File Compare, NC functions, DNC communication, NC-Assistant and other CNC programming workflows. The difference is that CIMCO is reorganizing how those capabilities are packaged into its new Core and Ultra product options.

Do Existing CIMCO Edit Customers Need to Do Anything?
There is no licensing change or action required for existing CIMCO Edit customers. Standard users automatically qualify for Core, and Professional users automatically qualify for Ultra.
To access the new features, simply install the latest version of CIMCO Edit.
Which Version of CIMCO Edit Is Right for Your Shop?
For a new customer, the choice between CIMCO Edit Core and CIMCO Edit Ultra will largely depend on what you need from the software.
If your primary needs center around NC program editing and backplotting, Core may provide what you need. If your shop needs more advanced simulation and verification capabilities, Ultra may be the better fit.
