CIMCO software provides language localization for close to two dozen languages for all of their products. There is one area that just having a translation is not enough. Machine Data Collection is almost a living organism, we add new downtime reasons and data points based on our unique needs, equipment and internal benchmarks. So when you are collecting data from multiple plants around the globe into one centralized location, management of the language barrier is cumbersome, custom translation is necessary. Language barriers are common, and the bigger you are, the bigger this problem becomes.
An Example – XYZ CNC Company
Let’s say your XYZ CNC Company corporate headquarters is located in Sacramento, California, USA. You have a plants in other US states, Mexico, Germany, Italy and France. Your main data center and most of your staff are in Sacramento and using English language for all of the MDC report information, charts, operator panel reason codes, etc. While working on your system with your friendly local re-seller Managed Solutions you have added a lot of customization to your CIMCO MDC-Max configuration including the livescreens, operator panels and reports. You establish a process that works well and provides you with everything necessary to benchmark productivity across your enterprise and quickly address problems in real time. In fact your CEO even insisted on a massive wall full of big screen TV’s running livescreens displaying real time OEE and machine status for every department in every plant around the globe. Some of your staff in your remote plants do not read and write English, so they will need custom translations to bring this seem-less display of production data to Sacramento. Building systems at each site in the local language would cause a language barrier at the home office and huge inefficiency accessing the data. There is a better way.
Custom Language Translation Settings – CIMCO MDC
CIMCO MDC Max allows you to specify custom language translations for all of your reports, live screens, operator screens and charts. To implement this feature you simply login as an admin user and access the Setup/System Setup/Live Setup/Translations. Add translations for any of the languages that are needed for your remote plants as pictured below:
Once your translations are complete, save and close the Live Setup and open the remote client, in this case we’ll use the CIMCO Web MDC-Client. You will notice a drop-down box for language selection where the user can choose from any of the languages you have altered in the previous step:
For the windows client, you will access the client setup option in the setup menu and choose the version you want to use on that computer.
Now all the reports, operator screens, live screens, graphs, etc. will be translated using the language you selected and more importantly, one unified system that can be updated and managed at your Sacramento headquarters in real time without any language barrier to contend with. XYC CNC Company can go on with their plans for world domination while quickly responding to production issues anywhere and rolling out new plants without having to reinvent the wheel each time.
