The Sky is the Limit with Managed Solutions and CIMCO Software: Meet Peter Pickslay
I am excited to announce a new addition to the Managed Solutions team! Allow me introduce you to Peter Pickslay, our newest CNC Automation Specialist. Peter came onboard in August and has quickly become a valuable part of our team. Quite simply, we are honored to have him as he left his previous job of 17 years to join us, and that’s a big deal.
For many customers, the barrier to making a software purchase is answering the question: “Is it going to do what we need it to do?” Answering this question in the affirmative serves as a guiding light for Managed Solutions’ operations and culture. The addition of Peter to our team underscores this greatly. Having a small and agile team is equally important to us. As we grow, we keep in mind that the choice to join the team must be mutual. We didn’t just pick Peter, he also chose us.
So what does it mean to be a CNC Automation Specialist? Peter’s job is to integrate CIMCO into our customer’s workflow as seamlessly as possible. On any given day, his work includes installation to configuration, technical support, and creative problem-solving. Peter loves the creative problem-solving aspect of the work. “The sky’s the limit with CIMCO,” says Peter. “If you can dream it, we can probably figure out a way to do it.”
At Managed Solutions, we provide solutions, not just software. While that may sound cliché, it’s true. Making CIMCO fit our customer needs takes some figuring out. We accomplish this through team collaboration, a broad foundation of technical expertise, and a desire to learn on the fly to make it work.
For example, Peter describes a day working directly with a customer on a specific challenge. “I asked them a lot of questions until I was able to determine what the issue was and how to solve it. I went home that day and felt accomplished. And then I went back to work the next day, and it happened again. A new challenge, a new day feeling fulfilled.”
“At Managed Solutions, we are a small team handling large-scale projects. I get to reach deep into my well of knowledge. And we push each other to do better and cooler things. There is a lot of room for growth. This is why I was pretty excited when I learned about this opportunity through my friend, and now coworker, Kevin Payne. And when I met Joe, I knew it was the right fit and the right time to make a change.”
What does he do in his free time?
“Well, I have three kids. So free time is a concept I don’t fully understand. I remember something about that many years ago. But seriously, I spend a lot of time with my three boys, who are 14, 13, and four, all very rambunctious and full of energy. I coach soccer for the kids, and play disc golf for myself. It keeps me fit and has been very addictive. My sons are getting into it as well. I also love fishing when I’m able to do it.”
