Sustainability as a Career Choice: Meet Riddhi Thavi
For the very first time, we are welcoming a summer intern to the Managed Solutions team! Allow me introduce you to Riddhi Thavi, a student at UC Davis and our sustainability intern. Riddhi is currently working on her Master’s degree, and will assist us in figuring out how our solutions combined with CIMCO software can help improve sustainability for our customers.
Providing workable, efficient solutions for our CIMCO software customers is what we do best. Riddhi will be researching and writing a white paper to document how we are able to improve sustainability. This will allow us to share details on how sustainability affects not only their operations, but their bottom line as well.
To get to know her better and find out what she aspires to, we asked her a few questions.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Mumbai, India, and have a Bachelor’s degree in Technology from K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering in Mumbai. My major was Mechanical Engineering.
What school do you attend currently, and what are you studying for your Master’s degree?
I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California-Davis. I anticipate graduating in the spring of 2023.
What is your goal upon completing school?
My goal is to work as a sustainability engineer, thus developing or enhancing technologies which contribute towards reducing environmental risks and devising ways in which available resources can be used without compromising future generations.
What do you hope to accomplish in your career?
I want to make a significant contribution towards eliminating or reducing the impact of any issues which threaten environmental sustainability.
What are your interests and what do you like to do in your spare time?
Since California is a new home for me, I like to travel to different places around the state. I like to read about new and upcoming sustainable technologies. And I also like to sketch and paint when I have time.
What are you most proud of accomplishing this far in your life
I am very proud of myself for taking a chance and moving to the U.S. to start a new life on my own all while maintaining my academic standing.
What are big goals or dreams do you have for your life?
My big goal in life would be to contribute something meaningful towards my field of interest (sustainable engineering) which I believe is of utmost importance given today’s current situation worldwide.
How would you describe yourself?
I like to describe myself as highly motivated and hard working. I chose sustainability as the field I want to work in because I realize it holds immense significance now and in the future. I would also say I’m highly driven.
What do you hope to accomplish during your internship with Managed Solutions?
During my internship with Managed Solutions, I hope to put my theoretical knowledge into practice while identifying gaps and eliminating them. I also hope I am able to provide some valuable insights and ideas I have regarding sustainability.
What do you hope to learn from us and our customers during your internship with Managed Solutions?
Since I do not have much experience in the industry, I am looking to Managed Solutions to help me gain that experience and provide me with a thorough understanding of how companies and industries function and thrive. I also hope to learn, and possibly teach others, about how companies are incorporating sustainability measures into their projects.
We are thrilled to have Riddhi with us through September and hope we can help her gain a head start in her career. Please join me in giving her a warm welcome!
