Some times a need arises to find out more about what is happening or not happening in your CIMCO Manufacturing Data Management Installation. The first step is to watch the messages in the MDM server setup real time, but what if you need more information? To make debugging issues our customers might encounter CIMCO enabled a debug log feature in 9.00.13. This feature allows a user of MDM to store logs daily with debug information. To get started, access the MDM server and open/edit the settings.ini located in the CIMCO\MDM\CFG folder as pictured below:
The save the changes. Now restart the MDM server service, this can be done a number of different ways. The simplest way is by accessing services.msc from the command box, or “Services” in the control panel on the machine hosting the MDM server.
Then locate the CIMCO MDM Server and choose “Restart” or “Stop” then “Start” the service:
To confirm it worked, check to see if CIMCO\MDM\logs exists and if a log was created for the current day:
There will now be a log file daily for CIMCO MDM. If you intend to keep this feature running long term, you may periodically wish to compress the older log files.
