This Tech Tip explains CIMCO MDM locked files and Remote Request.
If an operator submits a Remote Request for a program that is locked in MDM, they will not get the program. What they get instead is configurable. In most cases, we send back a file that loads on the control and tells the operator the requested program is locked and to contact the programming department.
That is not a bug. That is document control doing its job.
A locked file is in a controlled state: under review, pending approval, or frozen for a reason. MDM will not deliver it through Remote Request until that status is resolved. The approval workflow you already configured automatically governs what reaches the shop floor, with no additional setup required.
Resolve the lock, and the file is available. Until then, the operator knows exactly why they are waiting and who to talk to.
